Gas separation principle

Main principle of absorption separation of gases is sequestration of some components of gas mixture by solid substance (adsorbent). This process is explained by engagement forces of gas molecules and adsorbent.

Main principle of absorption gas-separated systems is based on the fact, that absorption of gas mixture component is strongly depends from temperature and partial pressure. So, regulation of processes of gases absorption and absorbent regeneration is fulfilled by changing of pressure and/or temperature.

Nowadays one of the most widespread processes of oxygen generating is method of unheating short cycled absorption (PSA). Molecules of oxygen absorbed from air by special molecular sieve. Then this oxygen flow to consumer (see fig. 1)

Process of regeneration is fulfilled by means of cyclic switching between 2 absorbers – columns of special construction with absorbing substance.

Operation principles of oxygen plant.

Air compressor (see fig. 2), which working from electric drive, compresses atmospheric air and send it to receiver for reduction of pressure pulsations. Then compressed air flows to filters (for removing of mechanical particles and oil vapors) and then to adsorption gas-separating block.

Air (with pressure 6-8 bar) comes to absorber 1 (see fig. 1 and fig 2) from one of electromagnetic valves. Absorbent removes nitrogen from air. After this process residual oxygen flows to receiver or directly to consumer. At the same time part of oxygen from the 1st absorber passed through drosseling valve to absorber 2 for blowing out of nitrogen. Periodically absorbers change their functions. Absorber 2 saturated by nitrogen and produces oxygen, and absorber 2 released from collected nitrogen. The cycle repeated over and over again.

Zeolite,which used in system, made by Honeywell. Honeywell is one of the largest chemical companies in the world (yearly sales volume in 2011 is 65% from the world volume).

Valvesis one of the main components. But OEM often like to do economy on valves due to high price. But PSA generator is stopped when something wrong with valves. Valves Omal (Italy) is officially declared like the best valves in the world practice. These valves are used in our PSA generators.It eliminates the possibility of generator stopping.

Control block and software. Control block is also main part in oxygen generator. We are using Schneider Electric for many years.
